About our New HQ

For over a century, Stamford 2nd Scouts has offered a range of activities for young people from the age of four to 18.

Today our group has over 200 members but, our current HQ at Empingham Road is inaccessible, outdated, cramped, and just can’t keep up with the growing needs of our members or the equipment we need for all our awesome activities.

In August 2024, we got planning permission (hooray!) to build an ultramodern HQ on our existing 2.25-acre site. This is a huge milestone for 2nd Stamford Scouts, and we can’t wait to get started!  This isn’t just an upgrade - it’s a total transformation.

Inside the new HQ will have:

  • Two spacious halls.
  • An open-plan lobby.
  • A well-equipped kitchen.
  • Accessible toilets and showers.
  • Plenty of storage (because let’s face it, Scouts come with A LOT of gear!).

Our outside area will include:

  • Covered areas.
  • Camping and campfire space
  • Much-needed on-site parking for cars and bikes.

We're going all-in on sustainability too -the HQ will feature:

  • Energy-efficient heating and water systems
  • Solar panels
  • A grassed roof
  • We’ll also use eco-friendly materials to reduce our environmental impact and running costs.

While this HQ will be an amazing hub for our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, it can also be used by community.

But before any of this can happen, we’ve got to raise money, so we’ll be hosting a range of community and fundraising events. You can find out more about these on the fundraising calendar.

Building work kicks off in September 2026, with the grand opening set for summer 2027.

We’re building for our current Scouts, our community and future generations.
